How to Change Your 401(k) Beneficiaries

This guide explains how to add, remove, or update your beneficiary information on the Saturna 401(k) participant portal.

Step 1: Log Into Your Account

Log into the 401(k) portal using your credentials. See  401(k) Website Login & Portal Instructions  for detailed steps on how to access the system.

Step 2: Navigate to Beneficiaries

Once logged in, go to Personal Settings > Beneficiaries.
On this screen, you can:
  • Add a new beneficiary
  • Remove an existing beneficiary
  • Update existing beneficiary information (e.g., name, relationship, allocation percentage)

Beneficiary Types

  • Primary Beneficiary — The person (or people) who will receive your 401(k) account balance first if you pass away. You can name more than one primary beneficiary and split the allocation between them.
  • Contingent Beneficiary — The backup beneficiary. This person (or people) only receives the account balance if all named primary beneficiaries are unable to (for example, if they predecease you).

Notes

  • Keep beneficiary information up to date after major life events (marriage, divorce, birth of a child, etc.).
